Gordon Hamilton- Coach

Joining FRC in 2006, Gordon brings more than three decades of university, national, and international coaching experience to the Florida Rowing Center. His university coaching has included MIT Head Men’s coach for 20 years, Williams College, and University of Virginia. He has coached US women’s sweep and sculling national teams at the World Championships, Goodwill Games, and World University Games, in addition to international crews from Puerto Rico, Peru, and Brazil. Gordon is regularly a guest coach at Cambridge University Women’s Crew (England), Open Water Rowing Club (CA), Craftsbury Sculling Center (VT), and is the chief coach at Cambridge Boat Club in Cambridge, MA. Harvey Rubenstein- Coach

Harvey learned to row at Wayne State in Detroit and went on to represent the United States in the 1962 World Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland in the men’s 4+ event. He also represented the U.S. in the 1961 and 1965 Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv. Harvey recently retired from a 40-year career in teaching and coaching a high school rowing team in Michigan. ANNE DINSHAH- Coach

The newest member of the FRC staff learned to row at the University of Notre Dame where she earned a B.A. in American Studies while also playing water polo. Her M.Ed. in Sport Administration from University of Texas launched her own study of America from a coaching launch which included: University of Washington, University of Wisconsin, Stetson University, University of Central Florida, Mercyhurst College, and The Ohio State University. Anne has also coached at Austin Rowing Club where she worked with all levels of rowers, novice to competitive masters, sweep and sculling. Anne is learning to wrestle and is the author of Healthy Hearty Helpings, a vegetarian cookbook. Her new book Dating Vegans: Recipes for Relationships will be published in 2010. Anne built her stone and timber-frame vacation cabin in western New York.
Roberta Jaro-Reservations Manager and Administrative Assistant
Roberta Jaro took on the role of Administrative Assistant for the Florida Rowing Center in September 2008. Roberta oversees the registration and scheduling of students attending the sculling center. Roberta also holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston. She is the wife of Gordon Hamilton, one of the coaches at the center.
