Since 1985, the Florida Rowing Center has been Florida’s premier destination to learn from the best coaches in the world. With an indoor boathouse and a pristine 2000-meter lake, the FRC specializes in individual instruction for rowers of all ages and abilities – from Olympians to first-timers.
We, Tracy and Howard Kirkpatrick, the owners of the Florida Rowing Center, are committed to teaching the lifelong sport of rowing by focusing on the biomechanics of rowing to avoid injuries while building strength and speed in the water.
In order to be the best, you need to learn from the best, so we’re dedicated to bringing the best coaches to South Florida. Our coaches have coached at the Olympic Games, MIT, the Cambridge Boat Club, UCLA, the University of Miami, Barry University, Phillips Andover Academy, and have coached rowers to victories, including 25 Florida State Championships, the Asian Championships, the NCAA Championships, the U.S. Club National Championships, regattas and the Head of the Charles.
However, we believe that rowing is about more than biomechanics and physical ability. It is also a mindset of mental toughness, responsibility to yourself and your team, good sportsmanship, perseverance, and overcoming adversity. And, of course, having fun along the way!
The FRC is conveniently located in the quaint village of Wellington in Palm Beach County (recently voted one of Florida’s top places to live), well-known for being the home of the National Polo Center and an equestrian paradise. Wellington is about 15 minutes from Palm Beach International Airport with excellent accommodations, great restaurants, and shopping, and just minutes away from Palm Beach and Florida’s best beaches (some dog-friendly).
Let our best bring out the best in you!
